My First Office Job: A Creative Adventure at Smoothound

Starting your first office job is like stepping into an entirely new world, and when it’s at a quirky startup like Smoothound, the excitement multiplies! Smoothound is all about crafting fun, quirky socks with a premium edge, and as their graphic design intern, I’m diving headfirst into a pool of creativity and responsibility.

The first day was all about getting to know the company. The team, though small, was incredibly welcoming and set the tone with a detailed briefing about Smoothound—its vibe, vision, and competition. After that, my friend (who joined in another role) and I spent the day digging into research, exploring the brand’s niche and potential opportunities.

By the second day, things started to pick up. The team handed us the agenda for the entire month, laying out clear goals and deliverables. My first official task? To work on revamping the website.  With no dedicated design team, all the creative work is on me—a big responsibility, but also an incredible opportunity to make my mark. So, I started with some research of my own, making reference boards, creating copies and kind of establishing a tone of voice for the brand that was missing.

What makes Smoothound so exciting is the creative freedom it offers. Being a startup, they’re open to fresh ideas and out-of-the-box thinking. There are no rigid guidelines or lengthy approval chains—it’s just me, my ideas, and a lot of room to experiment. It’s the perfect playground for a designer like me!

The Commute Story

Let’s be honest, the one-hour commute from Ghaziabad to Noida isn’t the most glamorous part of my day. But the excitement of working in an office, creating something new, and being part of a growing brand makes it all worth it.
