The Fourth Week
Week 4 at Smoothound started with an exciting change of scenery—bye-bye desk, hello factory! This week was all about seeing the magic behind sock-making, learning new things, and, of course, balancing approvals with rejections (the ultimate designer struggle). But the highlight? Watching my designs come to life right in front of my eyes.
The Factory Visit
We began the week with a factory excursion to Kundli, which means a road tip with the boss. Experiencing the entire manufacturing process will stay with me. Designing socks on a computer screen is one thing; watching them being made stitch by stitch is a whole different experience.
I learned about hand-linking versus rosso-linking - two ways to join the toe of a sock. Who knew that socks had their mini engineering world of sorts? Put on the show by machines! It was ike a synchronized dance of needles, threads, and color coming together to build something that can be worn.
But the real "omg this is so cool" moment? Seeing our design come to life in the factory. That was something. It was a small victory for my creative spirit to see my design showed on the machine and everything start to knit. Dil se ek happy designer moment tha!
Of course, we also made the most of the visit—shooting videos for later, capturing behind-the-scenes clips, and just absorbing the whole experience
The Midweek
Back to the office, it was time to do one thing, which tbh sometimes feels too tiresome - creating social media posts. This meant working on reels, brainstorming captions, editing clips, and putting together creatives for upcoming posts. Par jaise kisi ne kaha hai - it is what it is!
Well, now approval and rejection are a major subjective experience for every design-gosh, did they come more alive for us! While some ideas were quickly approved, others? Well, let's say, "aur thoda tweak kar lo" was the favorite phrase around. But that's the excitement (and sometimes pain) of the creative field-it's all about making it a little bit better. Lunch, Laughter & Team Vibes The work was intense, but we made sure to add some fun in between—team lunch being the highlight. There’s something about eating together that makes everything feel more relaxed. From random office banter to discussing which sock design is secretly everyone’s favorite, it was a much-needed break from screens and tasks. Smoothound’s work culture is something I really appreciate—it’s a mix of high-energy tasks and a casual, fun environment. Even when things get busy, there’s always room for a joke, a light conversation, or just a moment to breathe.
The Takeaways
Watching socks being made IRL? Super cool.
Approvals are great, rejections make you better.
Lunch with the team > Eating alone at your desk.
This week was a perfect mix of learning, creating, and just experiencing the process of how a design goes from a digital file to a real, tangible product. And as we head into the next week, I know one thing for sure—this internship is turning out to be a ride filled with insights, challenges, and moments worth remembering. Agli baar, ek aur factory visit banta hai!
